Are you a Christian who experiences panic attacks or obsessive compulsive behaviors or long term general anxiety? Have you experienced a trauma that changed your life emotionally, or has a series of stresses contributed to your feeling on edge? A lot? Are you avoiding certain places or people or events that make you feel anxious? Are you afraid of going out in public?

This type of mentality, although it can be chosen, is actually a symptom of this disorder which leads victim into an even more problematic state. Victims of GAD can suffer from insomnia, fatigue, headaches, irritability and trembling. Even more dangerous is that if this disorder goes without treatment one can begin to suffer forms of depression. GAD is simply an unstoppable feeling of worry, or anxiety, brought on by no apparent danger, or concern; it is suffered by more then 4 million people every year. This disorder is adaptive, and by that I mean that it is unique to each individual sufferer, for that matter no specific triggers can be named.

A lot of people these days have a very busy way of living which results to a lot of stress. Because of this people are having anxiety which is just a normal reaction of our mind and body over the pressures of our daily lives. However, there are some cases that people suffer from constant and chronic anxiety which is known as anxiety disorder. Such mental health illness comes in various types and one of which is the generalized anxiety disorder. This particular type of anxiety disorder is characterized by the person's heightened sense of worry and fear of something that only requires less attention or anything that are considerably not enough to invoke or provoke such feelings.

The most common stress relieving methodology begins with mental exercises that keep you mentally fit and healthy. Usually people are suggested and recommended to have meditation for calming down the instability of their mind. Some physicians offer various drugs that come in aid of treating a patient suffering from anxiety disorder. These pills are good enough to control the situation but hardly keep them completely free of it. Moreover many of these medicines have side effects that crop up a new problem in the patient.

When a doctor gives some antidepressant to his patient, he knows the case history and the level of seriousness that is linked with his mental condition. Therefore, even if we know that all the Anti depressants have some side effects, there is no other way out to deal with the problem. The only difference between taking a medicine yourself and on doctor's advice is that if any complication arises as the result of drugs, then doctor is able to handle that situation. On the other hand if you go to a medical store and buy any of the drugs that are available without any prescription then, you may not be able to deal with its aftermath.

After you've figured out how bad they are suffering try to figure out if any specific thing triggers it. If they have something specific that sets them off then work with them to overcome their fear of it. Remember children don't think like adults, so you have to be simple, and make sure you stay with them every step of the way. If they have no specific trigger then you need to take it a step further.

If the above treatments eradicated anxiety surely it wouldn't be as prevalent as it is today. Therefore, there is a real need to handle anxiety in a different way.

In the United States alone, 1 in every 10 Americans struggle with anxiety disorder. Contrary to the popular belief, anxiety disorders are more than just being worried or concerned about a certain situation or event. Anxiety disorders are actually a mental health condition that if left untreated, can cause a person to become unable to function normally in society. Some types of anxiety disorders can be extremely severe that it prevents a person to be able to keep a job and foster healthy relationships.

There are different herbal treatments which I also discuss in my book. It does not hurt to try them out and see how you feel with them. Some can be really powerful. If it does not work for you then you still can take anxiety medication. There is no reason to suffer. It does not have to be forever.
